Waste Water Management :
A PPT was presented by Dr. Abirami from ICCW, and she answered student questions. The session highlighted major issues in water scarcity and pollution, especially untreated wastewater entering rivers. High BOD, COD and nutrient levels were noted as risks to health and aquatic life. CPCB guidelines and the need for stronger enforcement and better treatment systems were discussed. ICCW also shared new technologies like AOP, membrane distillation and hybrid systems. The session ended with simple steps to improve monitoring, awareness and water management.
Importance of Water bodies Protection :
After that Ms.Girija Ramesh presented a PPT and explained the importance of protecting water bodies. She highlighted how lakes, ponds and rivers support drinking water, irrigation, biodiversity and local livelihoods. The session noted the decline of water bodies due to pollution, over-extraction and urban encroachment. Key solutions included sewage treatment desiltingstormwater management and buffer zones. Students were encouraged to reduce plastic, join eco clubs and take part in restoration activities.
Nammal Mudiyum Course Explanation :
After that Mr. E. Maniraj Sr. Project Manager and Mr. E. Maniyarasu Project Executive from Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation presented the PPT on the Nammal Mudiyum Course and explained its purpose. The session introduced the course on water bodies protection and climate change for college students. It covered key topics like water resources, pollution, climate change and government initiatives. Students will learn protection methods, field activities and community involvement. The session highlighted youth participation, practical exposure and the career opportunities available in the water sector.
