Nammal Mudiyum Volunteers – Arumuganeri, Thoothukudi District

The Nammal Mudiyum Volunteers Group (NMVG) conducted a meeting at the residence of one of the team members to discuss the objectives of the NMVG project and the importance of protecting our water resources.

The team discussed the current water-related issues in the locality and shared ideas on water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and reducing water wastage in our daily lives.

Every team member actively participated in the discussion and shared their valuable views and suggestions.

The meeting was successfully completed in accordance with the guidelines provided by Puthiya Thalaimurai Foundation.

Nammal Mudiyum Team organized a meeting at Adyar Koovam, Gandhi Nagar Park.

The meeting focused on the topic of desilting rivers, lakes, and ponds. Desilting is the process of removing accumulated silt, sand, mud, and waste from the riverbed. It helps improve the natural flow and carrying capacity of rivers and reduces the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall.

Desilting also helps improve water storage and groundwater recharge. Regular and scientific desilting plays an important role in maintaining a clean and healthy river ecosystem. The meeting concluded with a visual experience of the river, providing the participants with a better understanding of the importance of river desilting and water conservation.
